internet safety

So, this shall be my new banner... why? cuz i had a lesson on internet safety today, and it's sorta scary! i mean, i knew all those before but thinking about the kids, damn, that's scary!

we had a guest speaker who came in today and talked about, basically, the internet and its dangers. kids putting up photos of themselves - eg wearing low tanktops, a guy that was shirtless - and u really dont' know who's looking at them rite?

and then there was the story of a girl who got emails from these three people who different personalities. basically telling her weird things and giving her suggestions... and it turns out to be her teacher! aka the teacher was all three different people, who got her email cuz he requested it of the class.

there was also a summarization of a long paper, on how kids are exploited on the internet. first, they become friends. then they have a relationship, to exclusivity where they are "lovers", to normal photo sending, to nude pictures. and one of them could be fake, just a man or woman pulling pictures or videos of the internet and proclaiming it to be themselves. when the person is tired of it, they either come clean blackmail the kid to keep their mouth shut - eg. sending those photos to their parents or hte school, since they were also hacked - or they just leave and disappear - the kid losing this person they love.

of course, blogs and such have a lot of info u could use... if u wanted to find me, i'm sure u have enough clues to pinpoint me. i guess taking my photo off doesn't really do anything nor m i esp scared - hell, i've met ppl off hte internet, and that's supposed to be a big no-no! i'm gonna be cool and be a role model... shall my students ever find me... lol if they bother to...
