ubc services = bad

a counsellor or psychologist was supposed to come into our class today, from what i have heard. instead, the TEO (teacher education office) sent someone from the health/wellness centre.

while i hear about all these wonderful services, i was rolling my eyes. she already gave us a handout on what she was telling us. to top it off, i've tried ubccounselling, and they're bad. first time has to be drop-in. no booking. if they're full, well, come back tmr (i was told next wk) unless it's an emergency. hmm: what a vague term. emergency like i'm gonna kill myself or emergency like i'm having a breakdown?

overall, i thought that was completely useless and a waste of our class time. somethign bad happened in our class, and the best thing they could do for us, for a group of 35 in the room, was send someone to tell us about all these "wonderful" and free services ubc offers and that 7.5% of students use it. bull. i never met that 7.5% of the population. i've met rejectees though. i can name two.

apparently, ubc doesn't think 35 ppl are enough to send a counsellor.
